industrial integsys casestudy 140x187May 14, 2020. Case Study: Industrial Automation. Our Sierra Nevada Region team and Industrial Systems Integration division teamed up to revitalize the industrial automation system for a rock crushing and processing facility in Northern Nevada. Rex Moore was tapped to perform an assessment of the “AS-IS” state and then implement a “TO-BE” automation solution for the Lime Mixing plant, the latter having been run manually for years due to a defunct control system. A modernized turnkey electrical and control system was implemented using Rex Moore’s Integration Execution Strategy. This case study highlights one of Rex Moore’s Core Values, “Creativity”, while fostering the company’s vision of “Delivering Unmatched Integrated Electrical Solutions”.

January 15, 2020. Rex Moore Completes Advanced Industrial Automation Solution.  Rex Moore’s skilled team of technicians, engineers, seafood processing-monterey 2 140x240programmers and electricians recently completed an automated solution and equipment integration for a Seafood Processing Facility in Monterey Bay. The team’s value-added technical services included design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the integrated industrial systems. Information within manufacturing facilities often can be difficult to access and share internally across departments. Rex Moore’s solutions use open standards such as ISA, CSIA, BCSI and ISO to provide integrated systems that include automation, instrumentation and visualization for the manufacturing enterprise using a secure, state-of-the-art communications backbone. Production data is current, accurate and can be quickly and easily accessed in real time, from the office or plant floor. The value proposition for owners and plant managers is increased or more efficient production, and a safer plant. “The team’s tireless efforts received rave reviews from our customer while delivering a complex technical solution on time and on budget,” said Jason Blum, President of Rex Moore. “Our team continues to exceed customer expectations as we strive to Achieve Excellence.”

March 20, 2019. Three Make-A-Wish Sponsored Children Share Their Stories. Rex Moore team members hosted a luncheon on Wednesday for three extraordinary children and their families sponsored through Make-A-Wish of Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada. Sarah, Nevaeh and Armon and their immediate family members gathered to express their thanks and share stories of what it was like to have their wishes come true thanks to a generous donation from the Rex Moore organization.

sarah maw luncheon 150x113 march 19Sarah, age 4, is a sweet little girl that loves to explore, to be outdoors and to spend time with her family playing in the snow or going to the park. In 2014 while just a baby, her father noticed that Sarah would become startled and began crying from what turned out to be multiple, intense seizures. She was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome due to a genetic mutation. After numerous doctor visits and hospital stays, new medication and therapy helped Sarah to finally manage the seizures and put her on the road to recovery. Sarah’s wish was to go to meet her favorite princess at Disneyland. The trip was a life changing event for Sarah bringing hope, strength and joy to her and her family who have endured a tremendous battle over the last four years.

nevaeh maw luncheon 150x113 march 19Nevaeh, age 12, began to feel ill in April 2015 and developed extremely swollen lymph nodes, intense leg and foot pain, and high fevers. Extensive testing discovered she had leukemia and she began immediate chemotherapy. While her condition is now stabilized, Nevaeh still undergoes chemotherapy at the hospital, oral chemotherapy at home, and spinal infusions every three months. Nevaeh enjoys many interests despite her treatments, including baking and artwork as hobbies and playing the flute in her school band. She really enjoys baking and her favorite dessert is red velvet cake. Nevaeh’s wish was to go on a themed Cruise. She had a blast, going on exhilarating water slides and traveling while on the cruise. This was a dream come true for a girl like Nevaeh who has faced so much medical hardship in recent years.

armon maw luncheon 150x113 march 19Armon, age 12, suffers from spinal cord cancer. Always a healthy and active young boy, one day playing football he temporarily lost movement on the right side of his body. X-rays revealed contusions in his spine. Shortly thereafter the medical team discovered a tumor in his spinal cord, and he was diagnosed with Astrocytoma of the spinal cord in November 2017. Armon is now undergoing chemotherapy and goes in for infusions once a week. His family believes his football injury was a “blessing in disguise,” for if it were not for his injury they would not have found the tumor so early. Armon enjoys going fishing with his Dad, playing soccer, and he has grown to love the game of basketball. He loves to snack on lime flavored Cheetos and Pepperoni Pizza, and in school he enjoys math and drawing. He is proudly bilingual in Spanish and English! Armon’s wish was to go on a themed Cruise, and he delighted in sharing stories about his snorkeling with huge manta rays all about – scary, but fun!

All families expressed a special thanks to Rex Moore team members for their giving, stating the trips were life changing for their children, blocking out the worst memories, boosting self-esteem and making their children feel special once again.

safety7 custom 240x180January 31, 2019. Safety Training is Top Priority at Rex Moore. Rex Moore’s Safety & Risk Manager, Brian Stone, believes the best place to train is at the job site where real life situations can be used to help workers better understand and anticipate the hazards they may encounter. Falls account for one-third of fatalities in the construction industry, and are the leading cause of fatality in construction. As such, OSHA and best practices require safety training for those that may be exposed to falls from heights. The photo shows Brian conducting a fall protection safety class which typically covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to equipment inspection, calculating fall distances and determining anchorage points. But it doesn’t stop there. At Rex Moore all safety is elevated to top priority and is incorporated into our daily onsite regimen.

BIM Book image Custom

November 17, 2015. New Book Shines Spotlight on Rex Moore’s Process Innovation. As an early adopter of BIM technology, Rex Moore went deep and closely examined the underlying processes built around using BIM as a construction management tool. “BIM caused us to ask the question, what is the best way to deliver a construction product to customers?” says team member Jeremy Grosser. This led to the development of the Rex Moore Production System (RMPS) in 2009, consisting of standardized processes and a method of delivering work that has kept 93-year old Rex Moore at the forefront of the electrical contracting industry. Now, this effort is spotlighted in a new book by Dave McCool and Brad Hardin, BIM and Construction Management (2nd Edition, John Wiley and Sons, 2015). In Chapter 5, the authors write about the evolution of RMPS in the Copart Kaizen case study, Delivering Work Using LBS and Lean. Hardin and McCool explain, “The work they (Rex Moore) do now is planned down to the day. In-field installers receive daily ‘kits’ with the components, drawings, tools, and information workers need each morning and they are removed each night. . . this method of delivering work has made them more efficient and significantly more productive.” After implementing the RMPS on all projects, several unforeseen benefits to the company’s construction customers also emerged, including cleaner project sites, new project opportunities and the lowest safety performance index ever.

October 2, 2015. Rex Moore Implements State-of-the-Art Modeling Software. Detail design becomes paramount as manufacturing opportunities continue to grow. SolidWorks newredtranslogoContinuing its commitment to being an industry leader and innovator, Rex Moore has acquired and implemented SOLIDWORKS® parametric modeling and simulation software. September 21, 2015. Managing the Power for Urban Farming. When ECOPIA® Farms needed to assess the feasibility of their existing warehouse to provide the power consumption required by their growing high-tech urban farming operation, they turned to Rex Moore. ECOPIA Farms is a supplier of certified organic, artisanal greens and microgreens to popular San Francisco Bay Area restaurants and some of the most discriminating chefs. This state-of-the-art grower uses natural non-GMO seeds in soil containers, organic soil and LED lights in a climate-controlled facility. The belief is that food should be grown for flavor, not to avoid spoilage during the often lengthy period involved in getting produce to market from conventional rural farms. At ECOPIA Farms in Campbell, Calilfornia, produce is picked fresh daily, then packed and delivered the same day! All this happens indoors in an older warehouse with outdated electrical systems, so the task required getting a handle on power consumption that can impact the bottom line. Rex Moore’s in-house engineering team not only nailed the answer to the question of power consumption, they also helped design the most efficient method of distributing power to serve the different LED needs of microgreens, seedlings and lettuces. Now Ecopia Farms can grow more efficiently and local chefs who put a high value on flavor – and their customers – can continue to enjoy fresh produce daily.
