Medium/High Voltage Electrical Engineer

The Medium/High Voltage Electrical Engineer position will be working with our Engineering, Operation, Estimating and Business Development teams to design high-quality and efficient solar PV systems.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience in electrical design and construction of medium and high voltage distribution systems on renewable energy projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop standards, design and deliver medium and high voltage (5kV – 250kV) distribution systems including substations, switchgear and all associated conductors and equipment
  • Provide direction, consultation and support for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, repair and training of substation and transmission line facility projects
  • Coordinate operation and maintenance activities to ensure optimum utilization of power system facilities and meet customer demands for electrical energy
  • Assist with planning complex transmission interconnection projects involving medium and high voltage substations, switchgear, transformers and power distribution electrical systems from a functional and specific perspective
  • Assist in interconnection design and equipment selection

Renewable Energy Project Field Engineer

The Renewable Energy Project Electrical Field Engineer will be an on-site technical consultant for the electrical construction scope for utility scale solar photovoltaic (PV) generation projects. This position requires a strong technical background in electrical construction, relevant education and excellent customer relations, communication, and scheduling abilities. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years in a construction supervision, foreman or management role and knowledge of renewable energy projects gained either through a trade education or engineering degree.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review project scope & specifications and participate in Design Kickoff Meeting
  • Review engineered drawings and provide comments to Engineer of Record
  • Create detailed bills of material for AC/DC electrical installation kits
  • Participate in detailing for substation and power station kits as well as create detailed electrical assemblies for the Manufacturing Department
  • Participate in developing project construction schedule
  • Coordinate trailer, water trucks, excavation & compaction equipment, installation electrical contractor mobilization and lead on-site Construction Kickoff Meeting with installation electrical contractor
  • Kickoff each electrical installation task type to ensure proper execution

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in utility scale solar photovoltaic generation facility construction including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in, and the ability to interface with customer, utility company, general contractor to coordinate the activities and responsibilities of each.
  • Experience managing the field operations of a design build project, preferably a solar photovoltaic project.
  • Ability and desire to travel to project sites throughout the U.S.
  • Completion of a 5 year electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent OR holds a BSEE degree with a power concentration from an accredited university AND has on-site management experience on a utility scale solar photovoltaic.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel

Technical Services Field Engineer

The Technical Services Field Engineer is a technical design professional and consultant and will be responsible for performing all Field Engineering services with specialized focus on substations and high voltage distribution/transmission.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, the ability to effectively communicate technical elements, scheduling and resource management abilities and interact effectively in an office as well as a field environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed installation plans, associated drawings and bills of material for medium and high voltage (12kV – 115kV) distribution systems including substations, switchgear and all associated conductors and equipment
  • Detailing, advising on value engineering ideas, technical advisor in the field

Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for providing direction to engineering department members, coordinating with other department members for success of Rex Moore and their clients.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with Building departments, Electrical superintendents, foremen and other field personnel in problem resolution as well as strong communication skills and presence in meetings with clients, staff and employees.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Management of resource scheduling
  • Allocation of resources based on project deliverables
  • Monitor and manage design budgets for fiscal responsibility
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Manager on resource allocation and improvements
  • Provide feedback to the estimating department on recommended project budgets for design
  • Manage the completion of complex plans based upon input from clients, design-build sales staff, and personal knowledge, utilizing department standards
  • Manage project to insure designs meet electrical code requirements, including load calculations, protective device coordination, fault current analysis, lighting as required by client
  • Successful communications with clients, department members, Electrical Superintendents and foremen, and other employees
  • Provide leadership and training for other engineering team members
  • Consult on and manage continuous improvement of department processes and practices

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BSEE degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with building power systems, signal and telecommunications systems, of which, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a lead position within an engineering or similar design firm or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC and building codes as it applies to electrical design, including over-current protection, conductor sizing, conduit fill, derating and clearances
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting and standard commercial products and their application
  • In-depth knowledge of general construction practices, building types and electrical construction
  • Knowledge of signal systems, including telecommunications, fire alarm, A/V and other low voltage systems
  • Knowledge of power systems analysis, including circuit breaker coordination, fault current, voltage drop, and load analysis
  • Knowledge of electrical drafting  symbols, and electrical or general construction basics
  • Knowledge of electrical components, including NEMA types and sizes, and lighting

Master Scheduler

The Master Scheduler will play an integral role in the deployment of the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and its project planning and scheduling functions.  The ideal candidate will have an understanding of technology and how it can be applied in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Forecast and analyze human resource requirements at project, department, branch and corporate levels
  • Develop and maintain corporate scheduling standards and training
  • Develop external schedule coordination standards
  • Collaborate with, learn the roles of, and train varying levels of Project Management and Supply Chain employees with the goal of an effective transition to using the ERP system to plan resources
  • Review project and department schedules in ERP system
  • Report identified surpluses and deficits to the appropriate people or department so they can be rectified
  • Monitor and communicate conflicts
  • Review schedules for compliance with standards
  • Assist the project teams with creation of project schedules when needed

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Production Planning or Master Scheduling using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • PMI-SP certification a plus 
  • Proficient with scheduling software, preferably Primavera P6
  • Able to describe and define the fundamentals of scheduling with construction scheduling ability preferred
  • Proficient in developing and delivering training in an OJT and classroom environment

Material Handler/Driver

The Material Handler/Driver position is fast paced, and requires an excellent driving record.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi-task, have good communication skills, should have some experience operating a stake-bed delivery truck, needs to be able to follow instructions, and capable of performing repetitive strenuous tasks in the warehouse and on job sites.

 ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Loading delivery trucks
  • Checking material and tool lists against material and tools loaded on trucks
  • Arranging material and tools on trucks to ease unloading and reduce delivery errors
  • Checking material from vendors against packing slips
  • Coordinating cleanups and material pick-up from job sites with job Foreman and Warehouse Manager
  • Unloading trucks
  • Sorting and organizing material from different job sites
  • Marking material to speed material return process
  • Checking safety items, fluids, tires and lights
  • Cleaning vehicles on a regular basis (inside and out)
  • Reporting any maintenance/repair items to the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Being in constant communication with the Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Supervisor and Tool & Equipment Supervisor
  • Assist Tool and Equipment Supervisor when needed
  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings and departmental meetings
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Supervisor

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Clean DMV record and driving experience 
  • Class B license preferred
  • Experience with driving delivery stake-bed and forklift
  • Must be very comfortable working in a warehouse environment
  • Some knowledge of electrical material

SCADA Technician

The SCADA Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining all phases of electronic measurement and measurement control equipment including the operation and maintenance of all production related facilities.  This is a journey-level position.  Working conditions include carrying light weight objects and using various hand tools and test equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMI software & other communications hardware and software components in compliance with electrical codes, standards and regulations
  • Operate a variety of instrument testing equipment in locating and determining types of instrument and PLC or computer malfunctions
  • Study plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations
  • Work closely with Field Engineers, Technical Services Engineer and other technician building the SCADA components for the solar projects
  • Pre-programming  of the manufactured solar SCADA components
  • Travel to facilities through North America to install, configure, test and support the operation of solar SCADA control system networks and substation facilities
  • Support staff with technical matters related to the SCADA systems, including responding to complex customer and vendor inquiries, troubleshooting efforts/projects and root-cause analysis
  • Install and troubleshoot controls including weather stations, Point of Array sensors, Back of Panel Temperature sensors, signal processor modules and other I/O modules
  • Install and troubleshoot electronic equipment components, including Cisco network switches and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories equipment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of progressively journey level SCADA experience; OR completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance and two (2) years SCADA experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to SCADA system work
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations
  • Skill in the repair and maintenance of all types of SCADA components
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication, including use of email client software
  • Skill in Microsoft Windows applications, including Microsoft Office and Visio
