Commercial and Residential Certified Electricians and Registered Trainees needed for projects throughout the Bay Area.  1 or more years experience required and valid CA certification or ET registration.  We're looking for motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic people who want to join a great team.

Renewable Energy Project Field Engineer

The Renewable Energy Project Electrical Field Engineer (Field Engineer) is an on-site technical consultant for the electrical construction scope for utility scale solar photovoltaic (PV) generation projects. This position requires a strong technical background in electrical construction, relevant education and excellent customer relations, communication, and scheduling abilities. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years in a construction supervision, foreman or management role and knowledge of renewable energy projects gained either through a trade education or engineering degree.

Primary Duties:

Detail AC & DC Electrical Scope of the Project:

  • Review project scope & specifications and participate in Design Kickoff Meeting.
  • Review engineered drawings and provide comments to Engineer of Record.
  • Create detailed bills of material for AC & DC electrical installation kits.
  • Participate in detailing for substation and power station kits for Manufacturing Department.
  • Create detailed electrical assemblies for the Manufacturing Department.
  • Participate in developing project construction schedule.

Schedule and Coordinate Mobilization Activities:

  • Coordinate trailer, water trucks, excavation & compaction equipment
  • Coordinate installation electrical contractor mobilization.
  • Lead on-site Construction Kickoff Meeting with installation electrical contractor

Field (on-site) Responsibilities:

  • Kickoff each electrical installation task type to ensure proper execution.
  • Provide on-site technical support for installation electrical contractor.
  • Provide advisement support for Job Hazard Analysis’ (JHA).
  • Assist in receiving of electrical material installation kits.
  • Monitor and record equipment & labor hours daily for on-site installation & excavation activities.
  • Track electrical installation contractor material issues and additional material usage (over and above kits).
  • Update 6 week Short Interval Schedule weekly (SIS).

Change Request Reporting:

  • Identify and report change requests to the project management team.

  • Oversee on-site implementation of change requests.

Closeout Items:

  • Ensure redlines of as-builts are maintained by installation contractor.
  • Return final as-builts to project management team.
  • QC test report forms.
  • Collect O&M, factory testing and warranty information from product sent to site.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in utility scale solar photovoltaic generation facility construction, 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in, and ability to interface with customer, utility company, general contractor and installation contractor to coordinate the activities and responsibilities of each.
  • Experienced managing the field operations of a design build project, preferably a solar photovoltaic project.
  • Ability and desire to travel to project sites throughout the U.S.

Education:

  • Completion of a 5 year electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent OR holds a BSEE degree with a power concentration from an accredited university AND has on site management experience on a utility scale solar PV project.

Technical Services Field Engineer

The Technical Services Field Engineer is a technical design professional and consultant and will be responsible for performing all Field Engineering services with specialized focus on substations and high voltage distribution/transmission.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, the ability to effectively communicate technical elements, scheduling and resource management abilities and interact effectively in an office as well as a field environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed installation plans, associated drawings and bills of material for medium and high voltage (12kV – 115kV) distribution systems including substations, switchgear and all associated conductors and equipment
  • Detailing, advising on value engineering ideas, technical advisor in the field
  • Review project scope & specifications and participate in Design Kickoff Meeting

The Senior CAD Drafter will be responsible for complete preparation and set up of new project job files including drawing index and cover sheet, complete drafting of electrical plans utilizing the most recent version of AutoCAD software, complete electrical panel schedules utilizing established Excel spreadsheets and complete weekly time sheet.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electrical and architectural symbols and basic electrical or general construction.

Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for providing direction to engineering department members, coordinating with other department members for success of Rex Moore and their clients.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with Building departments, Electrical superintendents, foremen and other field personnel in problem resolution as well as strong communication skills and presence in meetings with clients, staff and employees.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Management of resource scheduling
  • Allocation of resources based on project deliverables
  • Monitor and manage design budgets for fiscal responsibility
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Manager on resource allocation and improvements
  • Provide feedback to the estimating department on recommended project budgets for design
  • Manage the completion of complex plans based upon input from clients, design-build sales staff, and personal knowledge, utilizing department standards
  • Manage project to insure designs meet electrical code requirements, including load calculations, protective device coordination, fault current analysis, lighting as required by client
  • Successful communications with clients, department members, Electrical Superintendents and foremen, and other employees
  • Provide leadership and training for other engineering team members
  • Consult on and manage continuous improvement of department processes and practices

  • Extensive knowledge of NEC and building codes as it applies to electrical design, including over-current protection, conductor sizing, conduit fill, derating and clearances
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting and standard commercial products and their application
  • In-depth knowledge of general construction practices, building types and electrical construction
  • Knowledge of signal systems, including telecommunications, fire alarm, A/V and other low voltage systems
  • Knowledge of power systems analysis, including circuit breaker coordination, fault current, voltage drop, and load analysis

Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for managing all Transmittals, Submittals and Change Requests, managing project specific material scheduling of manufacturing and deliveries.  The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a multi-faceted and extremely fast paced team environment, have strong computer skills, basic knowledge of electrical systems and their components, and be comfortable working both at a desk and in a shop or jobsite environment.

  • Act as a liaison with General Contractor, Engineering, Design and Manufacturing regarding cost, scheduling and close-out documents for multiple projects
  • Design participation, pre-construction, construction and testing coordination
  • Maintain constant and effective communications with team members, internal/external customers and vendors
  • Assist Project Managers and Field Engineers in managing projects, subcontracts, suppliers and inspectors to meet construction deadlines and client expectations

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Manager in reviewing design documents, plans, specifications, estimates, schedules and reports
  • Coordinate with change order cost estimates, preparing related reports, budgeting and accounting practices
  • Help plan, direct, coordinate and motivate employees to achieve goals and objectives; effectively resolve complaints and issues
  • Develop professional documents; edit and proof written materials; prepare and maintain complete reports and records

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of base principle of scheduling, project management for construction and electric materials is a plus
  • Prior experience as Assistant Project Manager level or above, managing project budgets, design/build and other construction work activities preferred
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, Technical Writing and Scheduling software)
