In 1940, Vivian “Rex” Moore joined his father in the company after graduation from the University of California at Berkeley. The company then began to expand its market share into larger projects in both the public and private sectors and moved into the
category of a medium sized contractor.

In 1950, Benjamin “Rex” Moore retired from the business and Vivian “Rex” Moore took sole control of the business. During the period of 1950 to 1964 the business found a market niche as a well qualified electrical contractor doing service and maintenance work. At that time the sales volume of the company was in the range of $500,000 to $750,000.

In 1964, Steven Rex Moore joined his father in the company after graduation from the University of Arizona. The company diversified itself from a service and maintenance company to one doing all phases of electrical construction and electrical engineering by capitalizing on Vivian “Rex” Moore's registration as an electrical engineer with the State of California. On May 1, 1968 the company was incorporated in the State of California, and at the same time changed the company name from Rex Moore Electric to Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers. The name change helped to identify the company as a full-service electrical contracting and electrical engineering firm.

In 1969 Rodney Weckworth joined the company and later became an owner. Rodney was instrumental in the growth of the company until his retirement in 1999.

In 1990, David Rex Moore joined the firm after graduating from San Diego State University. David’s decision to join the firm extends a family tradition to four generations.

The decade from 1990 to present is marked by the company’s growth as well as geographic expansion. Branch offices in Fresno, Hayward, Reno and Truckee as well as the entrance into the Telecommunications, Fire, Security, CCTV and Access Control market contributed to the company’s current volume of over $130 Million. One reason for this significant growth was a strategy of geographically positioning the company as an electrical contracting and engineering firm that could meet its customers needs throughout the Western States with quality engineering and construction at a competitive cost.

In 2002, Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers, a California General Partnership was formed. This partnership, between Steven R. Moore of RMEC&E, Inc. and David R. Moore, William C. Hubbard, P.E. and J. "Brock" Littlejohn, C.P.A. of Rex Moore Group, Inc., will transition the ownership of the company into its fourth generation. A 14 member Executive Management Team chaired by David R. Moore continues to manage the company and its day to day operations.

The future for Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers holds continued geographic expansion as well as additional product and service lines incorporating the latest technologies.
