Rex Moore Group, Inc. was founded in 1922 by Benjamin "Rex" Moore as Rex Moore Electric. Now in its tenth decade, the company continues to remain true to its founding values of creativity, quality, responsibility and building relationships that provide extraordinary value through personal attention to client needs. 1922

Rex Moore Electric was founded in 1922 as a sole proprietorship by Benjamin Rex Moore. In the early years working out of the basement of his home in Sacramento, California, Benjamin Rex Moore operates the company as a small electrical service contractor engaged primarily in residential and small commercial service projects.

Benjamin Rex Moore becomes founding member of the Sacramento Electragists (renamed “NECA” in 1937).

1940

Vivian Rex Moore joins his father in the company after graduation from UC Berkeley. During the period from 1940 to 1964, the business excelled in its market niche of small commercial projects in the public and private sectors. Rex Moore Electric establishes itself as a very capable electrical contractor providing consistently high standards of service and maintenance work.

Vivian Rex Moore earns engineering degree and begins doing Design/Build work.

1964

Steven Rex Moore joins his father in the company after graduation from the University of Arizona, and the company grows rapidly during the ensuing years. Capitalizing on Vivian Rex Moore's registration as an electrical engineer with the State of California, the company diversifies from a service and maintenance company to one performing all phases of electrical construction and engineering.

1968

On May 1, 1968, the company incorporates and the name changes from Rex Moore Electric to Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers, signaling the company's move towards a full-service electrical contracting and electrical engineering firm. A year later Rodney Weckworth joins the company and subsequently becomes an owner. Over the next 25 years, Rodney and Steven integrate design/build capability into the firm and together they build the company into one of the top electrical contractors in California which is consistently ranked among the 50 largest and most respected electrical contractors in the nation.

1978

Design/Build expertise expanded with the addition of an in-house engineering department.

1981

The company gains independence from the unions and builds a strong field team.

1990

David Rex Moore joins his father after graduation from San Diego State University, extending a family tradition to four generations.

1992

The time period between 1992 to 2008 was marked by the company's impressive growth, geographic expansion, integration of new technologies and the addition of important new services. Rex Moore added new branch offices in Fresno and Hayward, California, and in Reno, Nevada. The combination of this geographic expansion with the entrance into the fire alarm, security, telecommunications, HV substation, and renewable energy markets contributed to the company's revenues exceeding $130 million.

2001

The company establishes major in-house manufacturing and prefabrication capabilities.

2006

Business Information Modeling (BIM) added to Rex Moore’s list of services and expertise.

2010

The company formally completes a ten-year transition to the fourth generation of ownership. David R. Moore, William C. Hubbard, PE and J. Brock Littlejohn, CPA now lead a 12-member executive team responsible for guiding the company through some of the most progressive changes in its history. Most notable is the implementation of the Rex Moore Production System, a system that integrates Lean manufacturing principles and processes with Rex Moore's traditional electrical construction business model. The result is an electrical contractor with the unique ability to drive significant value to its clients through innovative solutions.

2012

Rex Moore continues to reshape the industry with adoption of iLEAD business model and product delivery method.

2015

Rex Moore Group, Inc. expands its facilities for electrical assemblies manufacturing and kitting to over 400,000 square feet to accommodate continued growth in projects requiring the Rex Moore Production System.

2017

Long-time management team members Jason Blum, Larry DeVore and Jeremy Grosser become partners, bringing additional leadership to help guide the rapid growth of Rex Moore to the next level in revenue.
